FIFA President Gianni Infantino has revealed the role United States President Donald Trump will play at the 2026 World Cup final. Speaking on FOX and Friends on Tuesday morning, Infantino confirmed Trump's precise involvement in the showpiece event scheduled for later this summer.

"We will be together with the president enjoying the final and handing the trophy to the winner, of course together," Infantino said. When pushed to clarify whether he and Trump would present the trophy jointly, Infantino replied, "Of course, we are together all the time."

The announcement follows reports that Trump is facing a significant headache at the World Cup, with supporters directing offensive chants towards the president during matches, reportedly sending his team into "crisis mode."

"His staff are in crisis mode trying to prevent the president from being exposed to the chants in person, and that includes avoiding matches involving English-speaking teams," a source said.

It would not be the first time Trump has handed a trophy to a football side following a major tournament, though he has yet to attend a World Cup match this summer.

Last year, Trump joined Chelsea FC at MetLife Stadium — the very same venue where the World Cup final will be held on July 19 — to present the FIFA Club World Cup trophy. He then remained on stage during the team's celebrations in an awkward episode, insisting he "wanted to stay."

This time, the event is set to be considerably more momentous.

The World Cup final, staged every four years, is widely considered the globe's most prestigious sporting occasion, with billions of spectators expected across the world.

Given that the United States, Canada, and Mexico are jointly hosting the tournament, with the final taking place in New Jersey, Trump's attendance at the championship fixture - if not several matches - was broadly expected.

Yet he has not appeared thus far, and Infantino's confirmation of his presence at the final may represent his only in-person participation.

The relationship between Trump and Infantino has attracted scrutiny, with observers suggesting the FIFA president has accommodated Trump, especially after Trump received the inaugural FIFA Peace Prize during the World Cup draw in December.

Infantino also delivered the World Cup trophy to the Oval Office before the tournament's kick-off.
