England World Cup stars have suffered vile racism online, which Sir Sadiq Khan has said is "out of control". Social media messages about Premier League title winning Arsenal wingers Bukayo Saka and Noni Madueke, Tottenham Hotspur full back Djed Spence and Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham have been posted. One by @_UTD_Mickey read: "Saka Come out now N*****!!" @king18347532 suggested that he is "so overrated", then calling the forward a "f****** n*****". Another post from @tapera_david suggested Spence "tries so hard to please his master". It then called him a "Typical House N*****" who "Doesn't belong to Jamaica or Kenya but instead bootlicked the English to be Englishman".

@PaddyLeven called Bellingham a "black b******". "He needs a good f***** kickin the n***** c***," the account added. Madueke was told in a different post from @king18347532 to "stop with football f****** n*****!!". The Mayor of London posted on X: "Someone has to say it.

"The amount of racism directed at World Cup players - including in the England squad - on this platform is out of control.

"We cannot allow a vile vocal minority to divide our nation.

"A lot of this content is illegal and Ofcom should be investigating.

"Solidarity with every player targeted. We are united."

It comes after social media personality Angry Ginge said he received abuse online for "standing up to racism" at England's group game against Ghana.

The I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! winner, whose real name is Morgan Burtwistle, said he tried to get stewards to kick a man he accused of making racist remarks out of Boston Stadium, but they did not act.

This was "not good enough", he added.

He later said in an Instagram post: "Standing up to racism gets you this? What a world we live in."

England take on Mexico in Mexico City at 1am on Monday in the round of 16.

Pubs have been allowed to open until 5am so that fans can enjoy watching the game.

If the Three Lions win, they would take on either Brazil or Norway.
