According to The Telegraph, Kensington Palace never disclosed whether the Waleses were invited to the wedding; they confirmed that Willian and Catherine would be in London this weekend. Now the newspaper claims that William’s appearance on the podcast was the result of a secret rendezvous between the two couples that took place recently. Despite the future king and queen being unable to attend the wedding in New York, the foursome did meet in London a few weeks ago.
Although the exact date and location of the meeting are unknown, Taylor and Travis were photographed in London on May 7.
In the pre-recorded chat, held a few days after England’s first World Cup match against Croatia, Travis’ brother Jason asked William: “What in your mind is a successful World Cup for England?”
The future king replied “I think winning it”, and when quizzed if he would “cross the pond” if England made it all the way, he said: “Definitely. If we’re in the final.”
William made himself and his podcast hosts roar with laughter when he joked that Charles didn't like football after being asked how his passion for the Premier League team Aston Villa began.
He added: “My family haven’t got a particularly long history with football. There are a few of us who support teams. My football love came from friends taking me to my first match and at school growing up you can’t avoid the football chat, it’s everywhere.”
“For Meghan, it was about getting closer to Taylor. Right now, nobody has more cultural influence than Taylor Swift, and Meghan has wanted that connection for years.”
