A woman has died and another is in hospital in a "life-threatening condition" following a fatal crash on a busy A-road in a UK village. Emergency services were called to the A20 at Barrow Hill in Sellindge, Kent, at around 8.40pm on Sunday (July 5) after a yellow Mini Cooper crashed into a tree near the junction with Meadow Grove.

The 44-year-old driver was airlifted to a London hospital, where she remains in a life-threatening condition. The passenger, a 46-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. Kent Police said her next of kin have been informed. An investigation into the fatal collision is now under way, with officers appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage from anyone who may have been in the area at the time.

A Kent Police spokesperson said: "Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for anyone who may have seen the collision or the moments leading up to it to get in touch."

"Anyone with information should call the SCIU appeal line on 01622 798538, or email sciu.td@kent.police.uk, quoting reference HW/AL/052/26.

"Drivers with dashcam which may assist can upload the footage using this link."
