Audiences have been given their first look at a forthcoming TV series focusing on one of the most iconic sportsman in the world. The Greatest is the first authorised scripted series about the life of world champion boxer and activist Muhammad Ali.

Prime Video recently dropped a trailer teasing the series, which sees the boxing legend, also known as Cassius Clay (played by Jaalen Best), serving up self-affirmations in the mirror. The eight-part series has been executive produced by the widow of the late boxing icon Lonnie Ali and Oscar winner Michael B. Jordan.

The Greatest will depict the life and career of Ali, focusing on his time both inside and outside the ring taking audiences from his childhood to his sporting career.

Audiences can expect to see some of the biggest defining moments in Ali’s life in The Greatest, including his activism as part of the civil rights movement and his friendship with Malcolm X.

A logline from Prime Video for The Greatest reads: “The Greatest is an intimate exploration of the incomparable life of the boxing champion, humanitarian and global icon.”

Along with starring American Horror Stories and All American: Homecoming actor Best, The Greatest also features Dana Gourrier of Raising Dion fame, Snowfall’s Amin Joseph, Kai Parham, and Think Like A Man star Michael Ealy.

Power actor Omari Hardwick takes on the role of Ali’s father Cassius Marcellus Clay Sr. and the star recently took to Instagram to share the trailer.

He captioned the post: “Before there was Ali, there was Clay. Here’s the first teaser for THE GREATEST, a new original series coming to Prime November 4.

“Within this legendary story….we are proud to bring you the collective of stories & characters that make up the TOTAL of the boy, the son, the brother, the man, the fighter, the EPIC human being.”

He concluded: “And dear beautiful fans of mine & of ours….we hope you find this series as groundbreaking as we felt making it!”

Ali tragically died in 2016 aged 74 after suffering from a respiratory illness that was complicated by his Parkinson's disease, nonetheless he left a lasting legacy and is still considered as the greatest boxer of all time.

The Greatest will be released on Prime Video on November 4
