Celebrity Big Brother star Mickey Rourke was flooded with support from fans after announcing a devastating death. The ITV star, 73, sadly lost his dog Ivan after 12 years together, sharing a photo of him cuddling his beloved pooch on Instagram as he explained: “Ivan wants to say hello and goodbye to all his friends. He passed away today.
“We had a wonderful 12 years together day and night. He’s crossing the rainbow bridge, I’ll see him again on the other side. Farewell my love.” It comes after Mickey announced Ivan needed heart surgery, which would cost around $10,000, plus a potential second surgery costing up to $8,000.
It came as Mickey was reported to be in “dire financial straits”, according to TMZ, after being evicted and moving into a hotel. A GoFundMe to raise funds for the star raised more than $100,000, but he rejected the help and the money was refunded to donors.
His representative Kimberly Hines said earlier this year: “I'm very resilient and committed to seeing Mickey make the right choices for his career and for his personal well-being.
Fans rushed to support the ITV star after the sad news, with one writing: “Everybody loves Mickey Rourke, even more cause you love animals so much.”
Another echoed: “I am sorry for your loss, my condolences. All dogs go to heaven.”
Around five weeks ago it looked as though Ivan’s condition was improving, with Mickey writing on social media: “What a great miracle. Ivan has improved. So greatly, about 93%, so grateful. I don’t think without all the prayers he got he would be here today.
“Ivan and his twin have never been apart their whole lives, thank you all so very much for sending Ivan your love and prayers, I am so grateful.”
