Drivers on a busy stretch of the M6 are facing traffic chaos, with warnings of two-hour delays and 6 miles of congestion. Three lanes of four in Cheshire are closed on the southbound carriageway between J21 for Woolston and J20 for the Lymm Interchange due to overrunning roadworks
Motorists are facing huge delays to their morning journeys, with motorway camera footage showing traffic at a complete standstill. National Highways wrote on X: "The #M6 in #Cheshire southbound between J21A-J21 has lanes 2,3 and 4 (of 4) closed due to roadworks that have over ran their pre-agreed end time of 6am. Lane closures are in the process of being removed. There are delays in excess of 120 minutes with 6 miles of congestion."
