Little House on the Prairie star Luke Bracey's life away from the spotlight is capturing the curiosity of his growing fanbase. The actor portrays Charles 'Pa' Ingalls in Netflix's fresh reimagining of Laura Ingalls Wilder's cherished Little House on the Prairie novels, which dropped on July 9.
The eight-episode series is a wholesome frontier story following the Ingalls family as they embark on a new chapter in Kansas, having left their former home in Wisconsin behind. For those eager to learn more about Bracey beyond the screen, here's everything you need to know, reports the Mirror.
Sydney-born Australian star Bracey never intended to pursue an acting career. Instead, the 37-year-old had his sights firmly set on a rugby career once he completed his schooling.
He had also envisaged following his father into the construction industry and had even considered attending university to broaden his expertise. Bracey previously told Square Mile: "I never wanted to be in movies or to be an actor."
Yet destiny had other plans. A TV producer, whose son was a friend of Bracey's, rang to invite him to audition for a role.
While he was unsuccessful on that occasion, a casting agent subsequently got in touch and he secured the part of Trey Palmer in Home and Away.
Hollywood soon came knocking, with further roles following in Monte Carlo, The November Man, G.I. Joe: Retaliation, Point Break and Hacksaw Ridge. More recently, he has featured in Little Fires Everywhere, Holidate and Baz Luhrmann's Elvis.
His starring role in Little House on the Prairie, which has already been greenlit by Netflix for a second season, looks set to elevate his public profile considerably further.
Bracey shares a close bond with Hollywood actress Emma Roberts, having collaborated together on both the Christmas romantic comedy Holidate and Maybe I Do.
Roberts personally reached out to Bracey to join the cast of Maybe I Do, which saw the pair alongside Hollywood legends Richard Gere, Diane Keaton, William H Macey and Susan Sarandon.
Roberts, who was interviewing Bracey for Square Mile, also disclosed that the duo had received numerous scripts from producers keen to see them reunite following Holidate, but admitted that until Maybe I Do came along, no suitable project had presented itself.
Both expressed their eagerness to collaborate once more, with Bracey enthusing: "You are awesome. I love working with you, love being your mate, looking forward to going to the pub as soon as possible, and making another film."
Roberts has a son with her former partner, musician and actor Garrett Hedlund. As of 2024, Roberts is engaged to actor Cody John.
Bracey maintains a private stance regarding his personal life, with little known about his current romantic situation. Previously, he has been romantically connected to Swedish musician Ellinor Olovsdotter and fellow Australian actress Olympia Valance, who is the younger sister of Neighbours star Holly Valance and also appeared in the beloved soap.
Bracey was also formerly linked to Mexican actor Eiza González, who has featured in Baby Driver and I Care A Lot. However, it remains unclear whether the actor is currently in a relationship or single.
Bracey disclosed how he left his Holidate co-star Roberts in a state of "ultimate confusion" for 30 seconds while they were conducting a chemistry read.
Roberts admitted that she had assumed Bracey was American and was taken aback when the film's director requested he use his natural Australian accent for the reads. She said: "I was like, 'You're Australian?' I'd seen you doing American only, and I was like, 'Wait, what's happening?'".
The Wild Child star confessed she wished director John Whitesell had informed her beforehand, though the initial shock was swiftly overcome.
Bracey described how they both burst into laughter, found it "really funny" and recognised that the film would be a success.
