A close friend of Ann Widdecombe has shared a bombshell theory about the late politician following her tragic murder last week. Last Thursday (July 9), the Reform UK minister was found dead in her Devon home, with police later launching a murder investigation into her passing. Since the case was taken over by Counter Terrorism Police, officers have arrested a 28-year-old man from Rotherham on suspicion of preparation, commission or instigation of acts of terrorism.

As the investigation into her death wages on, her close friend Debi Evans has called into question the official narrative behind the horrific crime. During an appearance on the Wide Awake Media podcast, host Darren Plymouth quizzed her about what she believes really happened to the former Strictly star.

She confessed: "I'm devastated, and in my honest opinion, I think this was a political assassination. None of this makes sense. The timeframe doesn't make sense. The whole thing, in my opinion, stinks! The whole sorry mess stinks, and you know what? They did it to the wrong person.

"Ann Widdecombe, she would have fought. She was putting out very controversial stuff, and I do believe a lot of people are saying she was about to say something that was politically very big, it was dynamite basically.

"So yes, I do believe that this was politically motivated because I can't think of any other reason why you would want to kill a 78-year-old woman who lived on her own. It stinks, and I don't believe a word of it." Officers are probing whether the 78-year-old was bludgeoned to death in a premeditated attack linked to her political views.

They fear a self-radicalised loner regarded Ms Widdecombe as an "easy target" compared with more prominent figures such as Nigel Farage. The Reform UK leader, as a sitting MP, has a dedicated police contact in accordance with Operation Bridger, the national police protective security.

It comes after political commentator Alex Phillips shared a bombshell theory about Ann Widdecombe's death during an appearance on The Megyn Kelly show on Sirius XM. During her chat with the American host, she compared Widdecombe's killer to "Islamist terrorists" as she insisted it was a "terrorist incident".

Host Kelly showed CCTV footage of the alleged killer with a bat clearly sticking out of his pocket, which it is believed he used to brutally attack the former Tory MP. "It's really hard for me to think about that," Phillips said.

"I knew Ann personally, and it's harrowing to think of her being bludgeoned to death with a baseball bat in her own kitchen, and if he had come to her front door and said 'you're a fascist', she'd have probably said, 'Oh, do come in, have a cup of tea, don't be so silly'," she reflected.

Clearly angry she continued: "A little old woman killed with a baseball bat in her kitchen. He drove 300 miles with that thing. It was premeditated....They're going to paint the picture, aren't they? 'Oh well, he's got mental health issues. Well, you have to have mental health issues to drive 300 miles to club someone to death.

"It doesn't make it any less a terrorist incident or a political assassination. It doesn't. We've got to move past this excuse of mental health and actually point the finger of blame at why people have terrible mental health.

"The pictures they're being painted by the state, by the left-wing, by this so-called DEI (Diversity, Equality and Inclusion) and critical race theory training, and all the rest of it, which psychological reports have likened to brainwashing for authoritarianism.

"That is what it's doing, and it's not that different from Islamist terrorists, where you've got radical preachers and radical clerics telling everybody that infidels are the problem in this world and they need to be gotten rid of at any cost.

"And someone hearing that material online and believing that it means that they have to go out and attack somebody. The parallels are undeniable," she insisted.
