A former Strictly Come Dancing star has been diagnosed with a devastating brain tumour in a heartbreaking health update. Trishna Bharadia appeared on the BBC dance competition back in 2015 when the show opened the infamous ballroom to non-celebrities. Starring on The People's Strictly For Comic Relief 11 years ago, Trishna, who was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis at 28, wanted to raise awareness as she "danced for disability" alongside her co-host Aljaž Škorjanec.
Now, the TV star has revealed that she has been battling a brain tumour and recently went under the knife, which left her with screws in her head. On Thursday (July 16), she took to Instagram, where the health advocate shared a snap from her hospital bed.
She captioned the worrying post: "So the universe thought that multiple sclerosis wasn't enough for my brain to contend with, and two months ago I had surgery for a type of brain tumour. I'm recovering well with support at home, and the surgeon is pleased with how it went.
"I can absolutely say I'm a bionic woman now, as I have metal plates and screws in my head." She then went on to thank the hospital and her neurosurgeon, who performed the "major operation".
The TV star went on to shout out her twin sister, "who was literally by my side for everything before and after, including when I was taken down to the theatre, making sure I didn't descend into a crazy mess of panic". She added: "Recovery is a marathon, not a sprint, but I'm getting there."
It didn't take long before viewers flocked to the comments to pass on their well-wishes online. One user penned: "Sending prayer and positive thoughts for your healing," as another agreed: "Oh my goodness. So sorry to hear this. Can't believe you've had to deal with this on top of MS."
A third echoed: "I am so sorry to read this, sending you lots of healing and happy vibes. Keep being a warrior." Meanwhile, a fourth wrote: "Oh my goodness, Trishna - sending you heaps of positive thoughts - take care of yourself, and I'm glad your recovery is going well."
A fifth chimed in with: "Gosh, Trishna, only just saw this. So shocked but also glad to read you're on the other side of the op. Sending lots of love & healing prayers for your recovery."
