Prince Harry returned to the UK for five days this July, and he even visited his father, King Charles. The long-awaited visit faced difficulties after Harry raised concerns about his security; however, he was able to bring Meghan Markle and his two children, Princess Lilibet and Prince Archie, along in the end.
The family were hosted by King Charles and Queen Camilla in a private meeting. On The Royals podcast, Kate Mansey and Roya Nikkhah have revealed what they know about the meeting, why Camilla’s presence was so significant, and how Harry felt afterwards. They have also asked whether the reunion can lead to a lasting reconciliation while Prince William remains outside the thaw.
On the podcast, the pair say: “If we hear nothing more about it [the meeting] as we go through the next few weeks, I think that will be a very positive sign. If anything comes out about that meeting, even any more kind of emotional response to it, I think it would be game over for any more meetings”.
They say it would be “back to square one”. Adding that if any details about the meeting come out, it would be the “red line” for the palace.
The Palace issued a statement on the meeting, with reportedly no statement from Harry’s team and all queries handled by Buckingham Palace instead.
Prince Harry and Meghan have been praised for not sharing any details about the private meeting, with royal experts wondering if anything will come out over the next few weeks.
Harry did not meet with Prince William while he was in the UK, and there are currently no signs of the two brothers reuniting.
Tensions allegedly rose between the pair around Harry’s wedding to Meghan in 2018, and then were further escalated when the Sussexes stepped down from their royal roles in 2020 and left for the US.
The release of Prince Harry’s memoir, Spare, in 2023, appeared to only deepen the disputes between the pair.
Prince Harry has previously spoken about his desire to reconcile with his family.
