Canadian singer-songwriter Brian Doerksen has been diagnosed with stage four cancer as doctors work tirelessly to determine the best course of treatment. On Saturday (July 18), the family released a statement on behalf of the 61-year-old as he undergoes cancer treatment. In a lengthy statement, they explained that doctors are still unsure what type of cancer the Faithful One hitmaker is suffering from.

They began: "Thank you for praying and for spreading the word about Brian's condition. Your words of encouragement have been such a gift to our family and team, and we have been deeply blessed by your kindness during this difficult time.

"We have just been informed that Brian has been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. The doctors are still working to determine the specific type of cancer it is. The medical team is moving forward with treatment, as well as pain management.

"Through it all, we are thankful for the doctors, nurses, and medical staff who are doing everything they can to care for Brian in this very complex situation." His family went on to share a link to a GoFundMe page to help pay for Brian's support and medical expenses.

They went on: "We have decided to start a GoFundMe to help support Brian and his family with the financial burden of medical expenses during this season." His doting family concluded the post by asking fans to "continue to pray for Brian" and thanked them for "walking with us through this journey".

It didn't take long for fans to flock to the comments to pass on their well-wishes online. One user penned: "Praying for healing, in Jesus name. Peace that surpasses understanding upon Briand and the family. Holy Spirit engage [white dove emoji]."

Another agreed: "So sorry to hear of this. Praying for favour around treatment - that the right hands would administer the right drugs at the right time, successfully! And that the Lord would turn this around. In Jesus name [prayer emoji]."

A third chimed in with: "I'm so sorry to learn about this diagnosis - we will continue to pray and know that God has the say in any diagnosis!" Meanwhile, a fourth added: "Oh Brian. Been thinking of you and your sweet family... saying some prayers. Sending love and care in this time."
