Bordeaux in France has been sent an evacuation warning as wildfires approach the metropolitan area of the city.

France’s interior minister Laurent Nuñez said: “The fire is 30 kilometres from Bordeaux. We are taking advantage of the lull to work on the edge of the fire, but the wind will shift during the afternoon.”

He added that authorities will do everything to avoid evacuation measures.

In Cap Ferret, southwestern France, tourists were forced to flee by boat to escape the flames.
