Former Britain's Got Talent star Vinnie McKee has shared his terrifying health ordeal, where he was put in an induced coma after a freak nosebleed exposed a horrific health condition. The 31-year-old singer revealed how he suffered a surprising nosebleed after dazzling crowds at his headline show in London on Sunday (July 19). Initially, the TV star brushed off the incident, but the following day, things took a turn for the worse.

After the second bleed, he attended the hospital and was discharged, only to be struck by another heavier nosebleed during his commute back to his Glaswegian home in Scotland. At Warrington Hospital, medics discovered a damaged artery and rushed him in for emergency surgery.

Vinnie revealed that he became critically ill while on the operating table after aspirating blood, which forced doctors to place him in an induced coma. On Friday (July 24), the singer-songwriter, who made it to the show's final last year after bagging Simon Cowell's Golden Buzzer for his impressive rendition of The Proclaimers', I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles), took to Instagram to share the news online.

Sharing a carousel of snaps of him hooked up to medical machines in his hospital bed, he recalled the gruelling ordeal online. He penned: "I don't have much energy right now, and I'm currently in intensive care, but I wanted to update you all as I've been quiet the past few days.

"After my show in London on Sunday, I suffered a severe nosebleed that worsened the next day. I was initially treated and discharged, but on my way back to Scotland, it started again, much heavier.

"I was taken to Warrington Hospital, where doctors discovered a damaged artery. After more than 24 hours in A&E and significant blood loss, I was taken into surgery. During the operation, I aspired blood and became critically ill, leading to me being placed in an induced coma in intensive care."

He went on: "Thankfully, I woke up yesterday. I'm still very weak, but I'm in good hands and hoping to recover fully soon. Being able to hug my family again means everything.

"I can't thank the incredible staff at Warrington Hospital enough for saving my life, and I'm so grateful for all your messages and support." His emotional post was soon met with dozens of well-wishes from his loyal legion of fans online, including Scottish singer and Love Island star Paige Turley.

She wrote: "OMG this must have been terrifying for you all. Sending lots of love and a speedy recovery, Vinnie." Another added: "Take care, mate, hope you're on the road to recovery," while a third added: "Oh man, get well soon buddy."

In the BGT final, McKee performed a rendition of Coldplay's hit song Yellow, but despite his strong performance, he finished in eighth place in the competition, with magician Harry Moulding being crowned the 2026 winner.
