Pink Floyd star fumes ‘are you deaf’ after Piers Morgan asks personal question | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

Pink Floyd singer-songwriter Roger Waters insisted he wasn’t a capitalist, despite Piers Morgan firing back that his net worth has been reported at over £300 million. He’d been discussing how he’d “paid a price” for expressing his political views, including claiming that Israeli women were “not raped” during the Hamas attacks of October 7 – a belief which Piers firmly refuted.

“Have I paid a price? Yeah, but I’ve been very lucky in my chosen career and I’ve never wanted for a few quid,” Roger told him. He added: “I don’t invest. I’m not a capitalist.”

However, when a forthright Piers quizzed in reply: “How much are you worth?”, he retorted: “It’s none of your business.” When Piers quoted the £300 million figure, he continued: “Are you deaf? I can see you can read, but you’re obviously a little bit deaf – it’s none of your business.”

Roger had claimed that the “Israeli lobby” and the “war machine” were “very powerful”, implying that his outspoken political views could have cost him financially. He has previously sought to compare himself to Jeremy Corbyn and Julian Assange, believing people have tried to “cancel” him.

On the interview last night, he doubled down, insisting: “When I take my stance for human rights, I’m not mucking around, I’m serious about it – and I don’t care what they throw at me.” However, Piers was vocally unamused about what those views were, including the claim that Israelis had told “filthy disgusting lies” about Hamas “burning babies” and raping women.

Roger insisted it was “completely false” and that there was “no evidence”, despite Piers saying it “has been established” that rapes did take place.

The former Pink Floyd star then appeared to zone out, turning away from Piers as if talking to someone in the opposite direction and whispering to himself.

He mumbled: “Calm down, don’t sink to his level!”, giving himself a pep talk before turning back, pasting a grin on his face and asking: “Sorry, what were you saying?”

Most viewers responding on Twitter took a dim view of Roger’s behaviour.

One person, who’d seen him appear on television before, exclaimed: “After seeing Waters on Rogan siding with Biden and the Covid lockdowns and now this… I’ll just imagine that Waters died a long long time ago.”

A fourth chimed in: “I think Roger has taken a few too many trips to the Dark Side of the Moon.”
