Following the 80th anniversary D-Day celebrations, a new movie about the build-up to Operation Overlord has been announced.
Pressure is based on the West End play of the same name and follows the extraordinary true story of the 72 hours in the run-up to the Normandy invasion.
Oscar-winning Hollywood star Brendan Fraser has been announced to star as Supreme Allied Commander and future US President Dwight D Eisenhower, in the upcoming World War II epic.
He’ll be joined by Andrew Scott in the role of Britain’s chief meteorological officer James Stagg.
The official synopsis reads: “In the seventy-two hours leading up to D-Day, all the pieces are in place except for one key element – the British weather. Britain’s chief meteorological officer James Stagg (Andrew Scott) is called upon to deliver the most consequential forecast in history, locking him into a tense standoff with the entire Allied leadership. The wrong conditions could devastate the largest ever seaborne invasion, while any delay risks German intelligence catching on.”
Pressure’s release date is TBC.
