How to unblock drains fast without vinegar or baking soda – plumber ‘swears’ by it

Drains in my bathroom seem to clog up quickly, especially when it comes to the shower.

From beauty products and soap scum to hair, while some things may seem like they would go doesn’t with ease, drains decide otherwise.

After noticing large amounts of water buildup whether the showed was used, I knew there was a blockage somewhere.

As there appeared to be no hair down the drain, the probable cause was a buildup of soap scum.

While many suggest using the white vinegar and baking soda combo, I did give it a go twice but noticed no changes.

Instead, I took to Mrs Hinch fans’ cleaning pages on Facebook to try and find a remedy. Many suggested the use of soda crystals and one user even claimed that their plumber recommended using the natural household item.

Posting a picture of soda crystals, Sandra Thomas said: “This is a fantastic item my plumber said he swears by and I’ve found it solves drain blockage I’ve had instantly.”

I use soda crystals for a variety of natural cleaning purposes around my home like whitening socks and softening towels.

Soda crystals are a naturally occurring mineral salt, that is soluble in water. Soda crystals are naturally bleach-free. What’s more, they do not contain any enzymes or phosphates, palm oil, or anything else, other than soda crystals.

What makes soda crystals a great choice for this job, is that soda crystals have detergent properties, which help tackle dirt and grease.

To unblock the drain I started by boiling the kettle, but not fully as it’s vital to use hot water rather than boiling. Boiling water will damage the pipes.
