Hundreds of pro-Palestine protestors have taken to the streets in Birmingham blocking roads as they carry placards and banners.

The activists have packed along Coventry Road, a main arterial route in the city, as they chant slogans and march in large numbers.

One poster read “Judaism condemns the State of Israel and its atrocities”, seemingly carried by men wearing Orthodox Jewish dress.

Iqbal Mohamed – an independent MP for Dewsbury and Batley – took to X to say that he was taking part in the protests.

He wrote in a post: “In Birmingham with people of all faiths and none, from all over the country, on the Big Birmingham Demo to protest against the genocide and push for peace.

“The UK must stop all arms sales and take the lead in ending the killing and enforcing international humanitarian law. #StopGenocide”

West Midlands Police said it was “aware” of the protest and “closely monitoring” the situation.
