Christmas may still be 10 weeks away, but that hasn’t stopped one Brit planning her festive dining well in advance – with the creation of her Christmas chips.
In fact, so happy is home cook, The Food Gal (@thefoodgal), she’s encouraged everyone to get stuck into a portion of them now. Taking to TikTok, to share her recipe, she declared: “I know its early but i dont care. There’s no way I’m waiting for these.”
The advice certainly appears to have resonated with her followers, with her mouth-watering video being viewed more than three million times in just 48 hours. The clip began with The Food Gal carefully placing freshly fried chips on her plate before adding slices of turkey on top.
Remaining on theme, next she applied stuffing, followed by four pigs in blankets. The dish was completed with a generous helping of thick gravy, which left foodies drooling and excited for December 25.
“I’d probably be thrilled with this for Christmas dinner,” one Brit admitted in response. “No fuss – Wallace and Gromit on the telly. Lovely.”
“Came straight to the comments and they didn’t disappoint,” gushed a second. “Those are THE most PERFECT chips.”
The lack of written or verbal instruction on the post prompted several TikTok users to question how The Food Gal managed to get her chips so crispy and golden. ” I like the look of those chips on their own,” one person said. “Have you got your own cooking method?”
Thankfully, she soon explained: “I soaked them for an hour, dried them then fried on high until golden.” Elsewhere, others suggested The Food Gal’s culinary masterpiece would make an ideal Boxing Day leftovers dish.
Good idea for Boxing Day with your leftover Christmas dinner. ” The best Boxing Day food!” another TikTok user declared. “I prefer it to Christmas dinner!” And a second concurred: “That’s my Boxing Day meal with loads of salt and vinegar, delicious.”
Others added their own recommendations to tweak the meal to their liking, meanwhile, with many cursing The Food Gal’s lack of cranberry sauce. ” I would add sprouts, carrots and parsnips to that,” one suggested “Also cranberry sauce.”
A second detailed: “Bisto have a nice turkey gravy, and now just released a Bisto Best version. It only comes out from October till January the following year. I use it as is or add in cranberry or apple for extra flavour.”
Whilst a third person took a different stance, advising: “The only thing that’s missing is a Yorkshire pudding.”
