The UK is set to be hit with a severe drop in temperature as some areas will go as low as -2C over the next few weeks.
Following a very mild October, Brits should start dusting off their winter coats ahead of November as weather maps drop to minus digits.
A chilling Arctic blast will see the start of next month feel drastically colder as areas will plummet to temperatures between 0C and -2C.
Central Scotland will face the brunt of this as the majority of the country will reach maximum temperatures of 1C on November 4.
The north of England will endure similar conditions as towns and cities from Newcastle down to Manchester will turn to freezing temperatures of 0-1C.
November 4 will also see Wales to be engulfed by the cold, reaching lows of 0C. Southern England and Northern Ireland will dodge the more extreme weather, yet will still feel the contrast of October’s warmth.
Monday 4 shows the midlands covered in temperatures of 2-3C as London and the southeast can expect highs of 7C.
Devon and Cornwall echo this with averages of 5-7C. The icy temperatures contrast October’s last few days where the UK is set for a blast of warmth seeing figures of up to 18C.
According to Netweather, the start of this year’s winter season will frequently appear under the influence of high pressures which is a change from the previous seasons impacted by low pressure systems off the Atlantic.
October 30 sees the southeast and southwest blanketed with 15-18C. The rest of the UK can expect similar temperatures with the north of England averaging at 14-15C, the same as Wales.
Scotland will see a huge switch in temperatures as the end of October brings an average of 10-13C, a massive drop by 15C to November 4 where it will reach -2C.
The Met Office’s long range forecast predicts that 29 October will be dominated by high pressure which will continue throughout the week.
Despite bringing in mostly settled conditions, the low cloud will see some areas covered in rain or drizzle. The chance of fog and frost is also increased throughout next week,
Breezier conditions can be expected in the north with the occasional outbreak of rain and the possibility of this pushing down into the south of England.
As the cold air infiltrates Scotland, there is an increased chance of snow over high ground too.
The Met Office also predicts the start of November will be relatively dry, transitioning into a wetter period towards the middle of the month.
After a mild and rainy first half of autumn in the UK, Netweather highlights how there is a signal for the UK to become less wet and perhaps even drier than average in November and perhaps December, with rainier conditions expected in the new year.
