Prince George is ‘spitting image’ of family member in unseen picture | Royal | News

Royal fans were delighted after Princess Diana’s brother, Earl Spencer, posted new unseen pictures of the Spencer family on social media.

Prince William and Prince Harry’s uncle shared two new historic photographs on Instagram which were taken between 1940 and 1941 and showed his grandfather, Albert Spencer and father, John Spencer.

One of them bore a striking resemblance to Prince George, according to royal fans.

His grandfather could be seen in military uniform, posing outside Althorp house – the Spencer family home – and sporting his signature moustache, while his father’s snap showed him also in uniform posing in front of a wall covered in foliage.

Earl Spencer captioned the post: “Two photographs from 1940 or 1941: my grandfather and father, on a war footing in the front courtyard of @althorphouse. My grandfather had fought as a cavalry officer and had been wounded, in the First World War.

“He had an honorary army rank at the time of this portrait with his dog. That’s my grandmother in the distance. My father was in the Corps at @eton.college – he became an officer cadet there, before serving with the Royal Scots Greys in Normandy.”

Royal fans were quick to spot the striking resemblance between Prince George and Earl Spencer’s father and took to the comment section to express their views.

One user wrote: “Prince George is the spitting image of your father.” Another one agreed, adding: “I see his father in William also.”

A third one said: “I think Prince George is the spitting image of your father when young. I love these photos.”

A fourth one commented: “Such lovely photos of your father & grandfather! You resemble your father so much!”

A fifth one added: “I see you and Diana in your father’s face! Wonderful photos, thanks, for sharing.”

The Althorp estate, which Charles inherited in 1992 following the death of his father on May 29, also serves as the late Princess of Wales’s resting place.

Diana was laid to rest on a small island in the ornamental lake known as The Round Oval, which is located within Althorp Park’s gardens.
