Inside Lewis Hamilton’s Italian house as Ferrari make rare exception | F1 | Sport

New information has come to light regarding Lewis Hamilton’s suspected accommodation once he joins Ferrari at the end of this year. And it’s reported the Formula 1 icon will move into the home once owned by the team’s legendary founder.

Seven-time world champion Hamilton is expected to move into the same Maranello residence once occupied by none other than Enzo Ferrari. And given its location next to the team’s Fiorano circuit, the building should serve as the perfect base to launch Hamilton’s next major bid for F1 gold.

Michael Schumacher is the only other driver to have been granted the privilege of using Il Commendatore’s former abode as his own living quarters. The German once stayed in the same building to conduct his testing days while he himself soared to seven world championships (five with Ferrari).

The revelation was made by Sky Sport Italy’s Carlo Vanzini, who also revealed the date of Hamilton’s 2025 arrival in Maranello has already been decided. However, he told journalist Roberto Chinchero the exact timing is yet to be made public.

The three-storey building houses more than just Enzo’s iconic office, which has been preserved since his death in 1988. Every door and window shutter on the outside is painted in the iconic Scuderia red, while the interior is littered with memorabilia from the manufacturer’s 95-year history.

Pictures show the desk where the former head of Ferrari once conducted his business, with a backdrop of a yellow tile wall engraved with the Scuderia horse. Desks, chairs and ornaments have all remained for almost 40 years, as have many of the engine parts and tools cherished from the company’s illustrious history.

The property is located on Piazza Michael Schumacher, as if Hamilton needed any more reminders of the challenge that awaits him in Italy. The 39-year-old will be hoping that by the end of his stay with Ferrari, he too will have done enough to warrant a piece of land being named after him.

Sat opposite Enzo Ferrari’s former abode are the original team garages – and unlike the former, these have been updated to fit modern requirements. It’s safe to suggest Hamilton won’t be short of distraction during his time living at the base, with Vanzini suggesting he won’t be expected to make many trips off the reservation.

Anticipation is already high ahead of Hamilton’s exit from Mercedes, where he’s won six of his seven world titles but has now hit a period of stagnation. The same might be said of Ferrari, who haven’t produced a world champion since Kimi Raikkonen in 2007 and are desperate to end that drought.

According to Vanzini, the public roads around Fiorano will need to be closed when Hamilton starts conducting tests at the private track. Such is the interest his first steps with Ferrari is likely to drum up among both locals and fans coming from far and wide.

After ending an almost three-year wait for a race win this season, Hamilton has already proved he still has what it takes to compete. And Ferrari are apparently pulling out all the stops to ensure he has all the tools necessary to take them back to the top in 2025.
