A simple hack could take your roasties to the next level by adding just one unexpected household ingredient.

Roast potatoes are delicious with a Sunday lunch, as a side dish or simply on their own, and taste best when served up crispy on the outside and fluffy in the middle.

One controversial ingredient that’s usually in every family’s pantry can elevate this humble dish. Yep, adding marmite to your potatoes could be a gamechanger this year.

These Marmite roast potatoes are sure to be a hit at any Christmas dinner. Just a tablespoon of Marmite adds a delicious umami hit which pairs perfectly with any Christmas meal.

You either love it or you hate it, however, these are guaranteed to change minds! So, here’s what you’ll need to make sure you have the perfect side trimming.

Ingredients:

  • Two 1/2 medium sized potatoes
  • One teaspooon marmite
  • Six tablespoon fat or olive oil

Method:

First you need to preheat your oven to 190C or 170C fan. Next, peel your potatoes and cut into large chunks. Put these into a large pan with boiling waterm cover and bring to boil before simmering.

Next, mix the marmite with the oil in a bowl then add to a roasting tin without the potatoes. Put it in the oven to heat for no more than 10 minutes.

While that’s being heated, drain the potatoes and leave to steam dry in the colander for three minutes before shaking them them up.

Finally, take the hot mixture pan out of the oven and add the potatoes.

Make sure to coat the potatoes evenly with the marmite mixture. Then roast for one hour or until golden!
