Meghan Markle once made a brutal 13-word swipe against the Royal Family during a bombshell interview.
Shortly after quitting life as a senior royal in 2020, the following year, Meghan and Prince Harry sat down for a televised interview with US TV host Oprah Winfrey.
When allegations arose that she made Princess Kate cry over a disagreement about Princess Charlotte’s bridesmaid dress, Meghan claimed she was “silenced” and not “protected” by the Royal Family.
In the interview, Meghan said: “That was hard to reconcile because it was only once we were married and everything started to really worsen that I came to understand that not only was I not being protected, but that they were willing to lie to protect other members of the family.”
In a 13-word statement, Meghan also claimed: “They weren’t willing to tell the truth to protect me and my husband.”
Buckingham Palace released a short and rare statement on behalf of the monarch, after the interview aired. While the late Queen said the family was “saddened” to hear of Meghan and Harry’s challenges and stated “Harry, Meghan and Archie will always be much loved family members.” She also remarked that “some recollections may vary” when it comes to the issues and concerns raised in their interview.
