Girl, 11, killed in horror air ambulance crash pictured with mum | US | News

A young girl and her mother, who tragically lost their lives when an air ambulance crashed in a heavily populated area of Philadelphia, have been identified and pictured for the first time.

Valentina Guzman Murillo, 11, was tragically killed with her mum Lizeth Murillo Ozuna, 31, when the plane they were in crashed in the city in the state of Pennsylvania, US, on Friday.

The duo, hailing from Mexico, were among the seven victims of the dreadful crash. This incident occurred just days after a helicopter and plane collision in Washington DC shook the US.

Young Valentina had recently received crucial life-saving treatment, and they were en route to their homeland when the ambulance, a Learjet 55, tragically crashed, reports the Mirror.

Tragedy struck when a jet, en route for a stopover at Springfield-Branson National Airport in Missouri, crashed into Roosevelt Boulevard and Cottman Avenue just after 6pm.

In the horrific incident, Captain Alan Alejandro Montoya Perales, Copilot Josue de Jesus Juarez Juarez, Dr Raul Meza Arredondo, and paramedic Rodrigo Lopez Padilla were killed alongside the tragically deceased passengers.

Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker revealed in a heartbreaking statement that “many people” sustained injuries as the aircraft plummeted into a densely populated area of the city.

At the time, Parker was unable to provide an exact number of casualties post-disaster.

She noted that a number of victims had been transferred to Temple University Hospital’s Jeanes Campus, while acknowledging the possibility that others might have been rushed to different medical facilities.

According to the mayor, the airplane was aloft “for only a minute” before it met its disastrous end.

In the minutes leading up to the calamity, air traffic controllers grasped for clarity, as recorded by CBS News, with one heard voicing uncertainty: “We have a lost aircraft. We’re not exactly sure what happened so we’re trying to figure it out. For now, the field is going to be closed.”

A second individual can be heard in the recording mentioning an “accident” close to Northeastern Philadelphia airport, saying: “It looks like there might be an accident near Northeast Philly airport. They are closing the airport indefinitely.”

Eyewitnesses described seeing a burst of light as the aircraft erupted upon impact, hurling debris at adjacent vehicles.

A witness recounted to CBS how onlookers “just started screaming” in horror, and another bystander disclosed to WPVI-TV: “I just saw a plane basically hit the building and it exploded. The sky lit up and I pulled over and basically, it was just real bad around here.”
