Well, the draw isn’t packed with classic Cup ties, but Plymouth have bagged a trip to the Etihad as “reward” for knocking out Liverpool. There are three all-Premier League ties, a spicy Lancashire derby and the potential for home ties for either Doncaster Rovers or Exeter City, if they can get through their fourth-round matches.

It was a big weekend of Cupsets at both ends of the country, as today’s Football Daily explains:
The Scottish Cup quarter-final draw, which features giant-killers Queen’s Park, isn’t taking place until after tonight’s last-16 tie between St Mirren and Hearts. Also in the hat: Aberdeen, Celtic, Dundee, Hibernian, St Johnstone and Livingston.
One, one, one, one, one! Yes, this draw is being housed within the comfy confines of BBC One’s “The One Show”. There’s currently a chat going on about workplace apprenticeships for young people. A worthy topic, but not super relevant to the upcoming draw, if we’re honest.
More on what went on over the long FA Cup weekend – which still has two fourth-round ties to complete.
Preamble
Plymouth’s shock victory over Liverpool has sparked this season’s FA Cup into life, with Argyle one of seven teams from outside the Premier League in the hat for the last-16 draw. Chelsea and Tottenham also crashed out, at the hands of Brighton and Aston Villa – leaving only two of what was once known as “the big six” still involved. Those two sides, Manchesters City and United, are enduring historically troubled seasons. What we’re saying is, this is up for grabs – and a home draw here would bring the Wembley arch a little closer on the horizon.
