Kobbie Mainoo injury update as Man Utd boss confirms four cruel blows | Football | Sport

Ruben Amorim says Kobbie Mainoo “felt something” in training and is not available for selection for the forseeable future. The Manchester United boss also confirmed that Amad will miss the remainder of the season.

United have been rocked by injuries this week and named a substitutes bench that had an average age of 19 against Tottenham.

“Amad [Diallo] was alone, [Manuel] Ugarte was a kick. Toby [Collyer] and Kobbie [Mainoo] felt something,” Amorim explained.

“It is what it is, but we have the kids and they have the opportunity to be on the bench. It is a really hard season and we have to deal with that.”

Amad has started 11 of Amorim’s first 13 matches in charge of the Red Devils and his absence will his the team the hardest.

“I don’t see it like that [world against us]. There are seasons when everything happens at the same time. Maybe we will find new ways to create situations,” Amorim added.

“We have kids with less responsibility, less weight on their shoulders. They are good players. If needed we will put the kids to play and maybe we will find good things in this moment.

“It is a very good moment in their lives, no matter the moment of our club. We are ready to try to win this game. We want to win this game, we need to win this game.

“Whatever happens in the end it is my responsibility.”

Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou has been moaning about injuries in his own camp over recent weeks but he is started to get some of his experienced players back.

“Having them [senior players back] in training is the big thing. We have hardly trained over the past two and a half months, it’s mostly been recovery,” the Aussie said.

“But training this week has been outstanding. A few have been out for a while, it will take them some time to get fully up to speed, but particularly having Guglielmo Vicario and James Maddison back – not just as the players they are but who they are as well.

“We want to play high-tempo, high-energy football. For the first time in a long time we have good options off the bench [to help us do that].”
