The ‘5-minute rule’ from Germany that could save your home from mould

This simple hack could help you prevent mould in your home and it won’t cost you a penny.

Mould and condensation can be hard to rid your homes of but by following this one easy routine you’ll significantly reduce the issue in your home.

The German method can be built into your morning routine and barely even takes any effort. It consists in opening your windows to allow the air in for five minutes everyday, which will keep ventilation flowing throughout your house.

If you have a mould issue already, it’s important to treat it quickly as the longer you leave the problem untreated, the worse the health impacts and risks are likely to be.

It’s also a good idea to open your windows after cooking or bathing, as this can increase the humidity in your home.

Warm air carries moisture, which is when mould is most likely to grow.

If you already have mould in your home, you should clean it off as quickly as possible as it can spread.

One way to remove the mould is to use baking soda.

The best way to use it is to fill a spray bottle with warm water and a quarter tablespoon of baking soda.

You should make sure to shake this well before you should spray onto the affected areas and use a cleaning sponge to clear off the mould.

Make sure to check all areas of your home for mould and even moving furniture to check behind is always a good idea.

This method will work for skirting boards, walls and around windows where mould is commonly found.

Once you have done this, you can double-treat any areas where you found mould was most problematic.
