Fans of games like It Takes Two and A Way Out are counting down to the release of Split Fiction on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store).

The new co-op adventure from Hazelight Studios has a March 6 release date on consoles and PC. Sadly for UK fans, Split Fiction has a 4pm GMT release time, which means no midnight adventuring for prospective players. The full list of Split Fiction launch times can be seen below, but US fans can play at 8am PT, while European players can enjoy the action from 5pm CET.

The times will be even later for some fans, because Split Fiction doesn’t have a pre-load option on PS5, despite its massive 79GB file size on PlayStation.

While it’s bad news for PlayStation fans, the good news is that Split Fiction is cheaper than most blockbusters, costing £44.99 on consoles and £39.99 on Steam.

Speaking of Steam, Split Fiction will be Steam Deck Verified at launch. This means it will run smoothly on Valve’s handheld device, and without users having to make any major changes.

Likewise, Cloud Save functionality means you can play on PC, close the game, and continue on Steam Deck.

In addition to Steam Deck functionality, Split Fiction will be Steam Native, meaning you don’t need to login with the EA App to start playing. This might be better news than Steam Deck verification.

Elsewhere, the game will run at 60 frames per second with dynamic 4k resolution on Xbox Series X and PS5, as well as 1080p/60fps on Xbox Series S.

Accessibility features such as simplified and custom inputs, not to mention skippable checkpoints and damage modifiers will also be available.

Perhaps best of all, however, is the availability of the Friend’s Pass feature, which means you only need one copy of the game in order to play with friends via co-op.

Step 2. Friend installs Friend’s Pass on their chosen platform

Step 3. I send an invite to my friend, who then accepts the in-game invite

Step 4. Play The Entire Game Together

It’s worth pointing out that you’ll need to be a PS Plus or Xbox Game Pass subscriber to access online multiplayer.
