If you are fed up with your Android smartphone signal constantly letting you down, help is on its way. US technology giant Qualcomm, has just confirmed the release of its new X85 5G system which will soon be added to the latest premium smartphones. This high-performance modem will be capable of supplying faster and more reliable speeds when on the move and away from Wi-Fi.
In fact, if the local mobile network has the capacity, this new technology is fully capable of whizzing the web to devices at speeds of over 12Gbps – that’s 12 times faster than the quickest UK fixed-line broadband. It also means you would be able to download a full HD movie in just on second.
Qualcomm is also promising that its X85 5G will offer improved network reliability in congested areas which should mean less chance of things cutting off at busy train stations or people-packed stadiums.
Another bonus is that the X85 is also far more power efficient – that means using 4G and 5G data should be much less hungry on battery life.
The X85 5G is an advanced system that will be built into premium devices but Qualcomm has also confirmed the release of its new X82 5G Modem as well which will appear in more mid-range phones. Although not as powerful as then X85, it will still offer a decent boost to 4G and 5G performance.
“Qualcomm X85, the world’s most advanced modem-to-antenna system, is set to provide the best 5G experiences. For smartphones, it enables levels of speeds, power-efficiency and reliability that will only be available on premium Android devices,” said Durga Malladi, senior vice president and general manager, technology planning and edge solutions, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc.
“Technology leadership has and will always be our focus. As we celebrate our 40th anniversary and enter the era of agentic and on-device AI, it is fitting that we mark this milestone by launching this industry leading platform. Our innovations in modem-RF and on-device AI uniquely position us as the leader for this next generation of connected intelligence.”
