Air fryers have been the must-have appliance to have in kitchens over the past few years, but cleaning them is incredibly important. Neglecting cleaning of your gadget could result in unappetising food or lead to the machine becoming faulty. 

In fact, experts recommend giving your air fryer a clean after every single use, following with a deep cleaning monthly. While some cleaning gurus tout dishwasher tablets and hot water or baking soda and white vinegar as their holy grail solution, there’s another store cupboard ingredient that could help with tough grime. Air fryer comes with a  cooking chamber, a heating element and a fan.

The heating element generates the heat and the fan circulates the hot air around the cooking chamber, making sure the hot air reaches all sides of the food, cooking it thoroughly and evenly, but this can mean that grease and oil can spatter around the change and build-up as grime overtime. 

Instead of baking soda and white vinegar, you could opt for coconut oil instead, especially for tough grease.

Simply rub a bit of coconut oil onto the area.

The coconut oil will help break down the grease. Afterwards, wipe everything away with a clean towel or paper towel. 

Coconut oil’s natural properties make it perfect for cleaning without being too harsh on the surfaces.

It cleans grease by acting as a ‘solvent’ which can lift and capture grease from surfaces, allowing any grime to be rinsed away with water. 

The Coconut Company also noted that you can also mix coconut oil with some baking soda to make an all-purpose antimicrobial cleaner which can be used to clean showers, sinks and baths.
