Eddie Hearn and Frank Warren in talks for ground-breaking merger deal | Boxing | Sport

Eddie Hearn and Frank Warren finally look ready to end their families’ long feud with them beginning conversations on what would be a ground-breaking merger between their two promotional companies. Queensberry Promotions is said to be in communication with DAZN on selling their international rights.

The two companies have said to be in discussions in recent weeks with them potentially announcing a deal next month, The Sunday Times reported, after they first begun to work together earlier this year.

Hearn’s father, Barry, had long been a rival of Frank Warren, with them promoting fights throughout the 1990s and Eddie taking over the boxing side of Matchroom over the last 20 years – signing a deal with DAZN. Meanwhile, Warren’s Queensberry Promotions shows it’s fights on TNT Sports – with DAZN now said to be looking to acquire their shows away from TNT.

Hearn’s Matchroom had previously been shown exclusively on Sky Sports before leaving to DAZN in 2021, with Anthony Joshua following the previous year. Meanwhile, Joshua’s biggest rival, Tyson Fury, fights exclusively under Warren’s Queensberry Promotions – which has been an issue in creating a fight between the two.

Hearn has previously had negative words for Warren but has since cooled his thoughts on his father’s former rival.

Speaking in 2023, he said: “When my dad was promoting, they were rivals as well. So I kind of grew up in that rivalry really. It’s not that it’s been personal to me but they’ve never [worked well together.  Socially I’ve never really met Frank but everyone tells me ‘socially, you guys would get on.”

The two have since posed for pictures in Saudi Arabia, while working on future fights together ahead of potentially agreeing a merger between the two promotional companies.
