Six Nations LIVE: Ex-England wing replaces Rees-Zammit as emotional swansong on the cards | Rugby | Sport

There has been some movement in the world of Premiership Rugby, with Gloucester announcing the signing of Christian Wade late last night.

Wade will join the Cherry and Whites ahead of next season, with the former Wasps and England man joining from French side Racing 92.

The 32-year-old quit rugby altogether in 2018, in order to pursue a career in NFL, via the International Player Pathway. Wade was drafted by the Buffalo Bills in 2019, but he didn’t play a game for the NFL team and returned to rugby in 2022.

Incidentally, that’s the exact same programme Wade’s predecessor Louis Rees-Zammit has signed up for, with the Welsh international ditching rugby for American Football earlier this year.

Wade has spoken about his decision to join Gloucester, saying: “I’m excited to be returning to the Premiership next season and for a great Club like Gloucester.

“After speaking with George [Skivington], I believe in his vision and ambition for the team and I can’t wait to play my part in that.

“I have fond memories of playing at Kingsholm in Wasps colours so I’m looking forward to getting out there in Cherry & White next season.”
