Stains on laundry can be a nightmare to remove, particularly when you’re working with whites.

This often results in households reaching for a bottle of bleach to remove the stains and restore whites.

However, if bleach is used incorrectly it can weaken the fibres in your clothing, causing them to deteriorate more quickly and potentially ruining your favourite items.

Instead of this happening or spending a fortune on specialised laundry whitening products, one cleaning influencer has shared an alternative method – and it’s only 79p.

Taking to her Instagram page @joy_in_cleaning, Lauren has shared a “cheeky laundry hack” for removing stains and whitening clothes.

She explained to the camera that she had a white t-shirt that was still stained after it had come out of the wash.

To try and remove it, she added in a denture tablet to a bowl with very hot water and left the top to soak for 48 hours.

Showing the camera her whitened and stain-free top, Lauren was amazed and said: “Look at the results.”

She captioned the video: “Who would’ve thought? If you’ve followed me for a while, you’ll know I love a denture tablet for cleaning – especially popping one in the bottom of my toilet bowl and leaving it overnight. Denture tablets are amazing.”

Fellow cleaning enthusiasts in the comments section loved this tip and were eager to give it a try for themselves.
