Emergency services, including armed police, have surrounded a hotel in Cornwall amid fears for a man inside. Eyewitnesses say officers laden with guns have descended on the Hayle’s Premier Inn. 

Hayle is a port town in west Cornwall, about seven miles from Penzance. A spokesman for Devon and Cornwall Police said: “Police are currently at the Premier Inn at Loggans, Hayle, due to concerns for a man in a hotel room.

“Negotiators are attempting to engage with the man and the incident is ongoing.” Pictures from the scene show at least three police vehicles present and an ambulance. 

Officers remain on site, with updates pending.
