Arsenal and Liverpool deals dead in the water with duo already in ‘advanced talks’ | Football | Sport

Arsenal and Liverpool look set to see their summer transfer plans scuppered, with Dusan Vlahovic and Federico Chiesa reportedly close to signing contract extensions with Juventus. The duo have been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League over the past few seasons but look set to remain in the Serie A.

Mikel Arteta is keen to acquire the services of a striker this summer, with Eddie Nketiah set to depart and pave the way for a replacement. Napoli star Victor Osimhen and Brentford’s Ivan Toney are among the options being explored as ready-made No 9s.

The Gunners are also considering younger prospects who can be developed under Arteta’s guidance, such as Brighton starlet Evan Ferguson and RB Leipzig talent Benjamin Sesko.

Vlahovic has also been regularly linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium, with the interest in the 24-year-old dating back to when he led the line for Fiorentina. However, Arsenal may opt against reigniting their pursuit of the Serbian international as Rudy Galetti reports that he is set to pen a new deal with Juventus.

Negotiations between the Old Lady and the striker have been ongoing for the past few months, and an agreement is now said to be in sight. Juventus will not entertain any offers for Vlahovic as a result, deeming him one of their key players for both the short and long term.

Similarly, Chiesa is also on the cusp of penning a new deal at the Allianz Stadium. The Italy international is currently contracted to Juve until 2025, but the higher powers at the club have acted quickly to ensure that he will not be heading into the final 12 months of his contract next summer.
