Sky just made buying Apple’s new iPads feel a lot more affordable

Apple unveiled two brand new iPad models earlier this week, with shiny new iPad Air and iPad Pro tablets on offer to buy. The catch is these slick slates cost from £599 and £999 respectively, and that’s for the smaller screens – if you want the 13-inch versions it’s £799 or £1,299. But if you can’t afford to shell out a chunk upfront for an iPad, you can always buy one on contract and pay a monthly fee instead. We’ve spotted some deals from Sky that make the new iPads feel much more affordable than their usual price tags.

Sky has the 128GB 11-inch iPad Air for just £17 per month with no upfront cost, an amount you hopefully won’t mind exiting your account every 30 days. Sky is also throwing in 100MB data totally free so you can check your emails and get online away from Wi-Fi.

Over the 48 month contract that amounts to £816. It’s worth noting that that’s a chunk more than the £599 asking price – though as you’re getting data services, you’re actually getting the £749 RPP cellular version of the iPad Air, which makes it look like a better deal overall.

Of course, 100MB is not a lot of data at all. When you go to buy, you can add more data but it will cost you more in monthly fees. That said, if you’re connected to Wi-Fi most of the time, you might not need much at all.

You can also pick up the iPad Air in a 13-inch version.

If the new M2-powered Air doesn’t sound powerful enough for your daily digital needs then Sky has also launched a pre-order deal on the latest and greatest iPad Pro as well. This premium tablet now features the ludicrously quick M4 processor which makes it around 1.5 times faster than its predecessor. That new chip is also incredibly efficient so you’ll still get around 10 hours of battery life.

This device, which comes in 11-inch and 13-inch sizes, is also now easier to handle with Apple boasting that it’s the thinnest gadget they have ever made. It’s

Another bonus of buying this tablet is that it now features an improved OLED screen which offers brighter whites, deeper blacks and more vibrant colours.

It’s also compatible with the new Apple Pencil Pro which now includes haptic feedback and improved controls when scribbling on the screen.

If Pro feels like the way to go, it starts from £999 when buying directly from Apple. However, Sky has a deal which includes this premium machine for £27 per month with 100MB of data thrown in for free. It’s also the cellular model, which actually costs from £1,199.

This deal is over 48 months with the total costing you £1,296 – be warned, that is £297 more than that one-off fee via the Apple Store for the Wi-Fi only £999 model.

However, spreading the cost over four years and only paying £27 per month does feel a little more affordable.

Other deals on the Pro include Vodafone at £36 per month (includes 1GB of data) and EE is charging £67 (5GB of data). We think Sky has them beat here.
