Taylor Wenczkowski scored at 11:44 of the third overtime to give Boston a 2-1 road victory over Montreal on Saturday night in Game 2 of the Professional Women’s Hockey League semifinal series.
Boston also won 2-1 in overtime in Game 1 on Thursday night in Laval, Que. Game 3 of the best-of-five series is Tuesday night in Boston.
Aerin Frankel made 56 saves for Boston.
“I was so happy to end it and go back to Boston with two wins,” Wenczkowski said. “It was a lot of hockey. It’s a grind, especially with the physicality, but super proud of the girls that we came out on top.”

Amanda Pelly opened the scoring for Boston at 6:48 of the first period. Kristin O’Neill tied it on a power play at 1:58 of the second.
Boston killed a five-minute power play in the first over after Lexie Adzija was given a match penalty for attempt to injure.
Boston head coach Courtney Kessel said they were expecting a tough series against Montreal.
“We knew this was going to happen with Montreal. I think we battled [Montreal] all year and what a tremendous effort by every single athlete out there.
“It takes a lot to basically play two games of hockey and luckily we came out on the better side of that.”
Ann-Renee Desbiens stopped 50 shots for Montreal, while defender Erin Ambrose played 61:33.
Montreal appeared to score with 30 seconds left in regulation, but the goal came after a whistle halted play.

Montreal forward Mélodie Daoust jabs at the puck that is underneath Boston goalie Aerin Frankel and it squeaks over the goal line but it’s waved off with 30 seconds left in the third period.
Montreal forward Laura Stacey said her team will regroup for Game 3 by focusing on the good things they did and keep doing them.
“It hurts, because we wanted to win for the other players on the team, for the staff, as well as the fans who have been supporting us all season long,” Stacey said. “We’re heading to Boston to get a win.”
