London Underground LIVE: Tube line shut as major police incident evacuates station | UK | News


A man has been arrested after trespassing on the Central Line in London earlier today which saw severe delays on Central Line and the station reportedly evacuated. 

Following the incident, there was chaos on the London Underground and the tube was shut between Liverpool Street and Leytonstone after the trespasser on the track prompted a huge police response.

Witnesses report seeing a police helicopter and dogs circling the scene at Leyton Tube station in east London this afternoon.

A spokesperson for TfL said: “No service between Liverpool Street and Leytonstone due to a trespasser on the track at Leyton. Severe delays on the rest of the line.”

Following the incident, a spokesperson for the British Transport Police said: “Officers were called to the line near Leyton at around 12.57pm today (14 May) following reports of a trespasser on the tracks.

“Officers attended alongside colleagues from the Metropolitan Police and a man was arrested on suspicion of trespass, possession with intent to sell, and assaulting an emergency service worker.”
