Three fully electric vehicles have made it into the top 10 slowest-selling second-hand cars, according to new data from AutoTrader. 

The Fiat 500e, Volkswagen ID.3 and Volkswagen ID.5 were among the most difficult for owners to agree deals for, with each model taking around three months to change hands. 

Three further models in the top 10 list were Plug-in hybrid vehicles in a worrying concern for the UK’s electrified transition. 

Just one EV made it onto AutoTrader’s top 10 fastest-selling cars list with the Jaguar I-Pace in fifth position. 

However, it was a traditional petrol combustion car which topped the list of slowest-selling vehicles in the UK. 

BMW had a second vehicle in the top 10 with the 2 Series Active Tourer Petrol Plug-In Hybrid in fourth position with an average sale time of 89 days.

The Volkswagen ID.5 SUV sold within 84 days while the Audi Q5 Petrol Plug-In Hybrid was with an 80-day estimate. 

Land Rover’s Range Rover Sport was in seventh with an average timeline of 79 days while the MG HS SUV Plug-In Hybrid was next with 78 days. 

The Ford Mondeo Hatchback usually sold within 73 days while the Mercedes-Benz V-Class rounded out the top 10 with a sale time of just over two months (70 days).

AutoTrader claims the data was reflective of the wider used car market with petrol models now selling faster than any other fuel type in around 27 days. 

Hybrids have seen their average speed of sale decline from 26 days to 29 days while diesel vehicles also take around 29 days to secure new owners. 

EVs are selling within 29 days, which is slightly up on the 31-day average recorded back in April.
