Businesses close to the incident have told their customers to take alternate routes.

Gilmerton-based salon Nicola Brown Hair posted: “Just a heads up for clients coming to the salon today there has been a major incident on Moredun Park Road coming from Ferniside Way the road is closed off, please use an alternative route via Gilmerton to get to the salon.”

Permanent Perfection Hair & Beauty said: “Just a heads up for clients coming to the salon today there has been a major incident on Moredun Park Road coming from Ferniside Way the road is closed off, please use an alternative route via Gilmerton to get to the salon.”

Raw dog food store Auld Reekie Raw posted on social media telling customers that the street has been closed off.

They wrote: “To our lovely customers, the street to our shop is closed off.

“To get to the shop by car you have to come from the bottom end of Moredun, and then the bottom end of Fernieside Crescent and follow the road right round. Or you can park up the top of the lane (Fernieside Drive).”
