Teenager, 17, arrested over fatal stabbing of boy, 16, in London | UK news

A 17-year-old boy has been arrested after another teenage boy, 16, was stabbed to death in London.

An investigation was launched after police were called at about 1.30pm on Friday to reports of a stabbing in Hayes, west London.

Kamari Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene in Bourne Avenue despite the efforts of officers, London ambulance service and London’s Air Ambulance.

The victim’s next of kin have been informed and his family continue to be supported by specially trained officers, police said.

On Saturday evening, a 17-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.

DCI Alex Gammampila, leading the investigation for the Met’s specialist crime command, appealed for information from residents who may have captured footage on doorbell or dashcam devices.

Gammampila added: “Kamari’s murder has understandably caused shock and concern amongst the local community.

“A team of experienced detectives is working tirelessly to establish what happened to Kamari and why he was attacked. This evening’s arrest demonstrates the progress we are making and this is in no small part to the assistance we’ve had from the community.

“We need to work together to ensure Kamari’s family get the answers they deserve about what happened to him. I would urge people not to speculate about this incident but come and speak to us if you have any information that could assist the investigation.”

Anyone with footage or images that could assist the investigation can upload them directly to police via the Operation Brownlow online portal.
