Rob Burrow’s wife Lindsey and their three children laid flowers outside Headingley Stadium following the death of the Rugby League legend.

Burrow – who was diagnosed with motor neurone disease in 2019 – passed away in hospital on Sunday.

It sparked an outpouring of emotion from the Rugby League community and beyond, with a sea of flowers, shirts, flags and other items left outside Headingley in tribute.

And on Tuesday evening, Lindsey, along with the couple’s three children, spent 30 minutes taking in the scene and reading the messages left for the former Leeds Rhinos’ ace.

Lindsey was seen fighting back the tears, with her children, who were all still in their school uniforms, laying down their own bouquet of flowers.

The family shared a warm embrace before heading off, with Burrow’s two daughters seen consoling mum Lindsey.

It comes amid what has been an emotional week for the Burrow family following Rob’s death.

Just hours after Burrow’s passing was announced, his family confirmed plans to start building a £6million MND care centre named after him.

While in Burrow’s final message before his death, the 41-year-old urged people to make the most of their lives.

Speaking in a specially-recorded for the BBC’s There’s Only One Rob Burrow documentary, he said: “I hope one day we find a cure and live in a world free of MND. By the time that you watch this I will no longer be here.

“I am just a lad from Yorkshire who got to live out his dream of playing rugby league.

“I hope I have left a mark on the disease. I hope it shows to live in the moment. I hope you find inspiration from the whole story.

“My final message to you is whatever your personal battle be brave and face it. Every single day is precious. Don’t waste a moment. In a world full of adversity, we must still dare to dream.

“Rob Burrow, over and out.”

Burrow spent 17 years at Leeds Rhinos and enjoyed a trophy-laden spell as a professional.

Across his illustrious career, Burrow won eight Super League Grand Final wins, three World Club Challenges and two Challenge Cups.
