Farage says what everyone is thinking about ITV election debate | Politics | News

Nigel Farage has slammed Rishi Sunak and Keir Starmer as they battled it out on live TV.

A cheeky tweet from the Reform UK party leader suggests he would rather be watching paint dry than watching the ITV debate.

And replies clearly show that many Brits agree with him – flooding his X timeline with comments from others who had switched off too.

“I can’t bear to watch it” said one unimpressed Farage fan while another said “me too!”.

Another chipped in with support for Nigel – who is running as an MP in the seaside town of Clacton.

“I knew you’d somehow manage to win this debate,” they quipped.

“Could not agree more. Zero character. Zero in common with the British people,” said another.

At the time of publication the tweet had been liked 6,000 times in just 30 minutes and seen 146,000 times.

Others across the country, however, were glued to their sofas as the debate between the two candidates for Prime Minister raged on.

Rishi Sunak insisted the “plan is working” as he warned Labour will raise taxes.

The Prime Minister said tax hikes are in the opposition party’s “DNA”, adding that a Labour Government would target “your work, your car and your pension”

But Sir Keir Starmer accused Mr Sunak of not understanding the struggles of ordinary people during the cost of living crisis.

The Conservatives leader has flatly rejected this, pointing towards all the support the Government gave people during the pandemic.

Meanwhile, Mr Farage hasn’t had a day without challenge.

Two people have been arrested after the broadcaster and politician had a drink thrown over him outside a pub after kicking off his General Election campaign in Clacton. He was leaving the Moon and Starfish pub when a woman pelted him with a banana milkshake.

A 25-year-old woman was arrested at the scene on suspicion of assault. He was seen with the drink splattered over his suit as he boarded his campaign bus.
