Luke Littler planning another darts break after title win on holiday return | Other | Sport

Luke Littler has already confirmed that he will be taking a small break from darts after clinching an 8-3 victory over Rob Cross in the final of the Poland Darts Masters. The teenager admitted to having a “bit of rust” in Gliwice, but that was quickly shaken off en route to picking up another piece of silverware.

Littler travelled to Orlando, Florida, with his family after competing in the USA as he took his mind off the sport and enjoyed a well-deserved break. He was fully focused once again as he jetted back to Europe to compete in Poland, defeating a Peter Wright who scored a 110 average in the first round before dispatching Michael Smith in the semi-finals.

Delighted with his performance and a sixth senior title of the year, Littler opened up on his plans to take another week off from darts. “I am just happy to play well this weekend,” Littler told the PDC.

“To play well enough and lift the trophy. There was a bit of rust in the first game but I am happy with the way that I have played. Next week I will have another week off, sort myself out, and I will come back fighting for whatever is next.

“I think all of us players needed it (a break), especially myself. Just need that reset, that week off and then come back and I have lifted the trophy. So the hard work has paid off to have a rest and I have come back and I have won it.”

Littler very firmly has his sights on his upcoming competitions, particularly namedropping three events he is hoping to win after a rejuvenating break away from darts.

“I’ve just had a week off in Orlando and there was a bit of rust,” he added. “But I think this weekend I’ve played well. Obviously Rob (Cross) has been at it all weekend up until now. I’ve had a week off and I thought I was in for a game but Rob didn’t turn up. I did punish him and got over the line.

“I love playing in big arenas in front of thousands. I’m just playing well. It’s another one to add to the list.

“I want to win as much as I can. This first half of the year has been really good with six titles and numerous nine-darters. I can’t wait for the second half of the season to kick in.

“I hope to win everything. But it might not happen. The Matchplay I’m looking forward to, the Grand Prix and Grand Slam.”
