Beach holidays were a key inspiration for Milanâs designers this season. At Gucci, creative director Sabato De Sarnoâs beach read of choice was William Finneganâs memoir, Barbarian Days: A Surfing Life. Bold motif prints in bright and pastel colours featured surfers, dolphins, or hibiscus flowers and decorated boxy short sleeve shirts. The takeaway trend here was shorts, as worn on the front row by brand ambassador actor Paul Mescal, who set the internet alight in a pair of cotton striped boxer shorts.
