Aston Martin make Lance Stroll contract decision and Alpine confirm Pierre Gasly plan | F1 | Sport

Aston Martin and Alpine have both made decisions about their 2025 driver pairings ahead of the Austrian Grand Prix, announcing multi-year contract extensions for Lance Stroll and Pierre Gasly respectively.

Stroll has been with the Silverstone-based outfit since they rebranded to Racing Point back in 2019 and will now continue as Fernando Alonso’s team-mate into 2025 and beyond.

“I’m super happy to have committed to staying with the team for 2025 and beyond,” he said. “It’s amazing to see how far we’ve come in the last five years; we’ve grown so much as a team and there’s still so much more to look forward to.”

Giving his thoughts on the renewal, team principal Mike Krack added: “The consistency and stability of both Lance and Fernando remaining with our team is a great platform to continue to realise our ambitions. We look forward to creating some incredible memories and achieving further success together.”

Stroll’s future had been a topic of speculation after an underwhelming start to his eighth year in F1 with Yuki Tsunoda and Carlos Sainz both fleetingly linked with his seat, but this announcement ends any lingering doubts about Aston Martin’s commitment to the Canadian racer.
