UK’s ‘favourite’ village adored by A-list celebs and royals | UK | News

A leafy village tucked away in the heart of England has been dubbed the nation’s ‘favourite’ village by locals, as A-listers and tourists alike continue to flock to the idyllic corner of the Great British countryside.

Kingham, in Chipping Norton, a quaint village set deep in the Cotswold Hills is full of picturesque cottages and postcard worthy greenery, with a host of local shops and pubs carrying with it a welcoming charm.

Peppered with gorgeous homes that convey a deep sense of history, many of the dwellings even date back to the 17th and 18th century and have been lovingly maintained while also evolving with more modern home comforts, reports The Sun.

Among the local amenities are a local shop and church, but it’s the nearby Daylesford Organic farm shop that truly draws a crowd, with the iconic establishment, which is widely considered to be the country’s poshest farm shop, even said to be a firm favourite of Princess Eugenie!

It isn’t just royals that have been captivated by the delicious foods on offer at the farm though, or indeed in Kingham as a whole, with the village having transformed itself into somewhat of a foodie paradise in recent years, with a whole host of eateries on hand, such as Kingham Plough and The Wild Rabbit, both highly regarded for their mouth-watering fare.

Blur bassist Alex James even lives in the town and has proven himself to be a culinary genius after opening a cheese farm to widespread acclaim, with many of his delicious creations now available in supermarkets around the country.

Daylesford is also widely believed to have inspired former Top Gear and The Grand Tour host Jeremy Clarkson’s own foray into farming, with the Diddly Squat Farm, and even previously served former Prime Minister Boris Johnson during the coronavirus lockdown.

If that wasn’t impressive enough, the quaint village is also a huge hit with many A-listers, including nearby residents David and Victoria Beckham, and pop-sensation Ellie Goulding who regularly shops at the store.

According to The Telegraph: “There are many tell-tale signs of the Daylesford Diva. Its glamorous clientele includes Ellie Goulding, who rents on the Daylesford property.”

Ellie has lived in the area for around three years, having previously moved to the leafy countryside back in 2021 alongside her husband Casper Jopling, who works as an art dealer. As part of the move, the couple renovated a luxury £1.3million manor house and returned it’s historic barn to its original state.

Actor Eddie Redmayne has also been spotted shopping in the village previously, making it a hugely popular destination, even despite it’s population of less than 1000 people.
