Andrea Bocelli praises Brian May in touching post ahead of performance together | Music | Entertainment

Two years ago, Sir Brian May opened the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Concert with Queen and Adam Lambert outside Buckingham Palace.

The star-studded show also included Andrea Bocelli performing Nessun Dorma with an orchestra.

Now, the two stars will play a set together this month at Bocelli’s 30th anniversary Teatro Del Silenzio concerts in Tuscany.

Last Friday night, the maestro performed a show at BST Hyde Park, which Express.co.uk attended and it turns out Sir Brian was there to support him ahead of their upcoming performance in Italy.

Now Andrea has shared a new post praising the Queen guitarist and highlighting their friendship.

Bocelli said: “Many years ago during a visit to a well-known tenor’s house, I had the pleasure of meeting him for the first time. The first thing that struck me about Brian May was his serene, classic aura, which belied the rock legend his name represents worldwide.

“This meeting evoked a genuine, deep esteem for this man of rare intelligence and culture – one which I hope is mutual. One of the best guitarists of our time, a songwriter who has penned numerous timeless hits, an astrophysicist, and an intellectual with a noble soul.”

Bocelli added: “Further proof of this arrived a few days ago at Hyde Park in London, when Brian did me the honor of coming to see me and watching my concert. When I asked him what guitars he owned, he responded: “Just like you and your voice, Andrea, which is a part of you, my guitar is my voice. I still use the one I built with my father when I was seventeen”.

“Wonderful Brian, It will be a joy, for me and for everyone, to have you on stage at the Teatro del Silenzio.”

Andrea Bocelli’s 30th anniversary concert takes places in Tuscany on July 15, 17 and 19 and tickets can be booked here.
