Samsung confirms critical Galaxy update you really don’t want to miss

All Samsung Galaxy users would be wise to make sure their devices are up to date with the latest software. It’s been confirmed that a critical patch is coming to these popular devices in the coming weeks and it’s definitely not something you want to ignore. The software update is being released to fix a so-called “zero-day” Android security flaw – named CVE-2024-32896 – that was originally found to be affecting Google’s range of Pixel devices.

For those not in the know, the dreaded “zero-day” stamp is added to threats that are being actively exploited by hackers.

The Pixel bug was so serious, the US government told all employees to install it or stop using their devices.

Now it seems more Android smartphones may be at risk which is why Samsung is rushing to send out this latest upgrade as soon as it can.

According to Forbes, the patch should arrive next month and as soon as it’s available you should consider installing it without delay.

Samsung pushes out monthly updates to all of its most recent devices which fix issues exclusive to its own software along with mending Android bugs and flaws. The August release, however, appears to be much more serious.

Here’s how to make sure you are running the latest software.

Step 1. Go to Settings > tap Software update.

Step 2. Tap Download and install.

Step 3. If new software is available, you can choose Install now, Schedule install or Later.

“Samsung periodically releases software updates,” the Korean firm explains.

“Software updates bring new features and more security to your device. Samsung recommends keeping your device software up to date and back up any important data before updating the software.”

We’ll update this article when we hear more about the critical release but keep an eye on your phone and install any new updates from Samsung as soon as they appear.
